Just Talked to Tonya
He had a great weekend, Tonya said. He was able to eat out twice. He ate seafood one night and Chinese...
This is the last obstacle before his long-awaited homecoming. Cindy is very concerned about therapy at home. She knows it will be a new kind of journey when he gets back.
Also, DON'T FORGET TO PRAY FOR THE SURGERY TOMORROW

Precious Lord
Precious Lord, take my hand,
lead me on let me stand,
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn,
through the storm, through the night lead me on to the light,
take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home
THE REST OF THE STORY
Back in 1932, I was 32 years old and a fairly new husband. My wife,
Nettie and I were living in a little apartment on Chicago's south side.
One hot August afternoon I had to go to St. Louis, where I was to be the
featured soloist at a large revival meeting. I didn't want to go.
Nettie was in the last month of pregnancy with our first child. But a
lot of people were expecting me in St. Louis. I kissed Nettie good-bye,
clattered downstairs to our Model A and, in a fresh Lake Michigan
breeze, chugged out of Chicago on Route 66.
However, outside the city, I discovered that in my anxiety at leaving, I
had forgotten my music case. I wheeled around and headed back. I found
Nettie sleeping peace-fully. I hesitated by her bed; something was
strongly telling me to stay. But eager to get on my way, and not
wanting to disturb Nettie, I shrugged off the feeling and quietly
slipped out of the room with my music.
The next night, in the steaming St. Louis heat, the crowd called on me
to sing again and again. When I finally sat down, a messenger boy ran
up with a Western Union telegram. I ripped open the envelope. Pasted
on the yellow sheet were the words: YOUR WIFE JUST DIED.
People were happily singing and clapping around me, but I could hardly
keep from crying out. I rushed to a phone and called home. All I could
hear on the other end was 'Nettie is dead. Nettie is dead.'
When I got back, I learned that Nettie had given birth to a boy.
I swung between grief and joy. Yet that same night, the baby died. I
buried Nettie and our little boy together, in the same casket. Then I
fell apart.
For days I closeted myself. I felt that God had done me an injustice.
I didn't want to serve Him anymore or write gospel songs. I just wanted
to go back to that jazz world I once knew so well. But then, as I
hunched alone in that dark apartment those first sad days, I thought
back to the afternoon I went to St. Louis. Something kept telling me to
stay with Nettie. Was that something God? Oh, if I had paid more
attention to Him that day, I would have stayed and been with Nettie when
she died.
From that moment on I vowed to listen more closely to Him. But still I
was lost in grief. Everyone was kind to me , especially one friend. The following
Saturday evening he took me up to Malone's Poro College, a neighborhood
music school. It was quiet; the late evening sun crept through the curtained
windows. I sat down at the piano, and my hands began to browse over the keys.
Something happened to me then. I felt at peace. I felt as though I could reach out
and touch God. I found myself playing a melody, once into my head that just
seemed to fall into place:
'Precious Lord, take my hand,
lead me on let me stand,
I am tired, I am weak, I am worn,
through the storm, through the night lead me on to the light,
take my hand, precious Lord, lead me home.'
The Lord gave me these words and melody, He also healed my spirit. I
learned that when we are in our deepest grief, when we feel farthest
from God, this is when He is closest, and when we are most open to His
restoring power.
And so I go on living for God willingly and joyfully, until that day
comes when He will take me and gently lead me home.

Surgery Scheduled for Tuesday
When Cindy asked Tonya about how Tyler felt about another surgery she said he was OK with it. Cindy says that there is an ace bandage on the elbow and that underneath it is "raw meat." Can you imagine how painful it is do do physical therapy with an elbow like that? Ouch!
Cindy and Larry are back in Munday today with Trevor... Just remember how hard it is to watch your child/spouse go under the knife again... So, keep those prayers going!

Thursday evening
Trey got a good report at his Dr. His arm is healing nicely but they did find another small broken bone in that arm but they say it should heal by itself. Trey and Ronda came home today.
Lookin' for something? Need peace?
Perhaps you are visiting this site and you feel a stirring in your spirit... Is there something about this site that tells you that there is MORE to life than what you are living?
We want you to know that the PEACE that we have been given for the recovery of Trey and Tyler is NOT from us. The God of Peace gives those who know him a supernatural reassurance that we depend on. There is an old song that says it well: On Christ the solid Rock I stand/ All other ground is sinking sand.
Once you surrender your whole life to Jesus, you will also be given the Peace that passes all understanding...
For more information, we have created a site that details more about God and His Amazing Grace.
You can contact someone for more information. All calls and emails will be confidential.
Also, let me urge you to seek out a local church, I say with confidence that every church in Munday is blessed with caring and sincere believers who can help you. If you aren't in Munday, I know there are tons of great churches out there...
Words from another song:
All I once held dear, built my life upon
all this World reveres and wars to own
all I once thought gain, I have counted loss
Spent and worthless now, compaired to this...
Knowing you, Jesus, Knowing you
There is no greater thing!
And personally, I can say that there is no greater thing. God saved me and it has made all the difference.

Out on the Town with the Thompsons!
In therapy, Tyler had to go down and show the therapist that he was able to get in and out of the car. He did well, so he gets a much needed outing! Tonya, Cindy, and Ronda are armed with cameras so we can post some pics later...
Cindy said that Tyler is eating much better and that there has been a huge improvement from just a few days ago.
Pray for Tyler's elbow, he hit it in the tank the other day and the skin graft is damaged.
Cindy also told me that the Moorehouse post(below) was gone and she wanted you all to read it and pray. I guess it was lost in cyber-space for a bit but now it is back.

Tuesday Evening
Trey is in Lubbock to see the Orthopedic surgeon for his arm. It is healing nicely so they feel really good about it. This is just a regular check up. Thanks again for all your prayers.
Ronda Thompson
God gives us the Keys to the Kingdom and prayer is one of the most powerful tools we have. Thank you Kacy for adding to this site the needs of others as praying for one another is an awesome privilege. Anyone can pray anytime, anywhere. I would like to add John Mark Wilde, 3 year old son of Ronda Cook. John Mark is recovering from open lung surgery due to accidentally falling into a dirty swimming pool. John Mark is doing O.K. but will be in Covenant Hospital in Lubbock for a few more days.
None of us know what the future holds but we do know WHO holds the future. Trusting God to answer our prayers is where faith comes in, I loved the quote "Prayer, of course, is not a means of getting what we want from God, but getting what God wants to be done here on earth." I do know that prayer changes things.
We are so thankful to all the prayer warriors who have been holding Trey, Tyler, Keith, and our families up over the past 5+ weeks. I was so blessed by Keaton's words, if you haven't read his link yet, do so as you will be blessed. We're standing in for you brother.
Glenna, we are lifting you, Chad, Autumn, and Jackson up and he will be healed in the name of Jesus. Dakota, you and your family are in our prayers, we pray for healing, strength, most of all HIS peace that passes ALL understanding and to your Grandma Laura, He will never leave you or forsake you. Arron's family, we know that with God, ALL things are possible. Glenna Shahan, you are in our prayers, God is in control. Gilbert and family, we're at the foot of the cross on your behalf, our hearts hurt with yours, I will always think of Trevor every morning "Good morning...". I also want to pray Lord for your hedge of protection around Mike, his family, and crew, I pray for a safer, productive, blessed harvest season.
We believe that the next time the Dr. checks Tyler's elbow and back that he will be in awe and know You did it God. We also pray for peaceful slumber for Ty-Ty. Thank you Lord for Trey's miraculous healing.
To you Keith, God equips us for His purpose, it was not by chance that you were there that day. We will never forget what you did to save our guys, you are our hero. You and your family always have been and always will be in our prayers...neighbors by chance, friends by choice--however, I do believe it was a part of God's plan that we are neighbors and not by chance, I just like that quote.
We are all blessed to be a blessing. Our love and prayers to all of you who check on us daily. Keep praying, it is working. There is no way we will ever be able to pay all this love forward, but the journey is an adventure, one we can all travel on together. May 18,2008 is a day we will never forget. My favorite song is playing, "Blessed be Your Name"...thank you Lord for giving them back to us...every blessing you pour out I turn back to praise. Thank you God, for being in all the details...how Great You Are. Thank you for our treasured family, friends and those we will never meet here but care enough to talk to You on our behalf.
Lycretia Atkins and her daughter Katsy ..her husband Chris killed himself last Wednesday after a troubled 40 years...giving into alcoholism as well as other addictions...Lycretia is a strong person..but there is so much to face...Linda says "she is a friend of our daughter and her husband Chad". Please add this precious family to your prayers. She didn't say where they live but we know that our mighty God knows their address.
Father, in the name of Jesus, we ask you to comfort this family right now. Help them to know that you are the God of all comfort, that you love them and understand all they have suffered and are suffering.

Hey Good Lookin'
This is a picture of Trey's head that had 2nd &3rd degree burns... check out the smooth like butta' skin! No Scarring! The burns started from the front of the forhead and went back.
Broken arm? Nope
and the scar is almost gone!
This is visable proof that God is in the DETAILS.
Good Day
They had a good visit with the kids and Madison stayed in Lubbock. Trevor has an appointment with the Dr. tomorrow in Abilene so say a prayer for him.
TREY is still trying to find soft foods to eat. Cindy made him bread pudding Sunday which had 9 eggs so he had an extra serving of that for the protein. He looks better each time I see him but he is still healing.
Dakota's Grandmother
Mom called and Dakota's grandmother, Laura Franklin Powell, just had a stroke. She is in the hospital and disoriented. Leslie asks that we pray without ceasing. Dakota is supposed to start chemo this week!
SIDE: Many of you may have noticed that we list more than the needs of those primarily affected by the events of May 18, 2008...
Trey and Tyler have already "turned that corner" so to speak and we believe they are on the way out of this wilderness . However, these other names...Laura, Keaton, Dakota, Arron, Baby Jack...are now adopted by this site and it's readers.
Thanks to God, this blog is now about so much more! We know that "God works ALL things for the good of those who are called according to His purposes. Romans 8:28" I know the Thompson family who would agree that whatever Satan intended for evil that God will turn to good for His divine plan. And we believe part of that "good" is you, the reader, participating in the lives of others having difficult times. We participate in their destiny by Getting on our knees... 80,000 hits means that you are caring people who are interested in others--keep reading, and praying...
I hope you can make room in your heart for these names you don't recognize and these people you don't know... We believe that this time of struggle for the Thompsons will be redeemed by the MANY lives God will touch. So, like Larry said, "Pray like they were your own."
Quote: Prayer, of course, is not a means of getting what we want from God, but getting what God wants to be done here on earth.
The Doctor said...
Let's agree that next week that when they take off the bandages that the healing has been taken care of miraculously! Can we all PRAY EXTRA HARD? Wouldn't it be cool if God got total credit for this one!
Tonya says that Tyler is OK with what the doctor said...

Another need for prayer...
Here is what Remelle wrote to me:
Keaton is 14 and a student at Crowell. Please read his story and PRAY FOR GOD TO DO MIRACLES for him the way He has already done for the Thompsons.
PLEASE PRAY
They will meet with the Drs. in the morning about 9:00 to determine if further skin grafts are necessary. Tonya did say the wounds looked better when they dressed it today. Tyler is asking us to pray that another surgery will not be necessry. He has had about 7 surgeries now and he sure hopes it will not be necessary to do another one. Cindy and I agreed to pray for the Drs. for wisdom because they have made pretty good decisions up to now and we just want what is best in the long run for Tyler. Please say a prayer for God's will and ask Him to heal Tyler's burns supernaturally. God is able so that is our prayer.

pizza party
Kelly, Todd and all their kids came which was a crowd. They ordered pizza and all went out into the court yard and had a party. Tonya said he was just very tired and ready to rest when they all left.
Our church had another tragedy this past week. Gilbert Flores who has been a part of our fellowship for over 10 years lost his little 5 year old son, Trevor. It has been a very sad and difficult week. The funeral was today and we had lunch for Gilbert's family out at our church. Last night when I was talking to Tyler he told me that he was praying for Gilbert. That reminded me of a scripture.
James 5:13-16 "Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and PRAY FOR EACH OTHER SO THAT YOU MAY BE HEALED. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective."
I gave Tyler that scripture and told him to continue praying for Gilbert and God would continue to heal him (Tyler). That is a promise of God. God's word is amazing and speaks to every situation in our lives.
Is any sick???? PRAY FOR OTHERS THAT YOU MAY BE HEALED.

Tyler's Best Day!!!
Tyler told me that he is so blessed and he wanted to thank everyone for all their prayers because he has felt God's power and presence. He wants to thank everyone for all they have done.
Todd and Kelly are taking all of the kids to Lubbock tomorrow to see their Daddy and I know that will make Tyler feel even better to love on his kids.
Several of you have asked for the physical address of the hospital so you can send cards and notes. So here goes:

Another day in rehab
This afternoon he was feeling better, sitting up in a chair. He didn't walk today because he has been feeling a little lightheaded. Cindy and Larry are planning on coming home this weekend because Tyler is so much stronger.
Please, pray that the skin grafts stick! they will assess him on Mon.
BTW: He is really enjoying all your comments!

GOOD JOB Y'ALL!
NEWS: He walked twice today AND he was allowed to go outside for the first time. He was able to stay about 15 mins. He did keep his lunch down and Tonya has gone to get a blender for his shakes.
He had therapy today, they worked him hard and she said it was very painful. The occupational therapist worked with him today and he dressed himself-shirt, shorts, and socks! Good sign!
A speech therapist came and checked his throat to see what the problem is with swallowing...
On the 23rd, the doctor will assess him and determine what they need to do as far as the skin grafts go... Right now, he is staying on the 3rd floor for therapy.
Cindy has been sitting with him reading your comments. They are deeply touched by your sweet words and your prayers are working.
WAY TO GO TEAM!
ALRIGHT! LET'S HEAR IT FOR TYLER!!!
TWO STEPS FORWARD, ONE BACK...
At 5 am the doctor came in and told Tyler that he would probably need MORE surgery...
This of course knocked the wind out of his sails. Cleaning his wounds, they noticed that some of the skin is 'dying'. They believe that this is directly related to Tyler's lack of nutrition.
Cindy said he ate breakfast but it didn't stay down. They are going to start giving him more of those high calorie shakes. He is still in the REHAB unit...Cindy said they are waiting to talk to the ICU doctor. She is really concerned about infection and especially concerned that he is getting discouraged...She wants us to pray against discouragement, depression and infection. Pray for supernatural strength.
PEP RALLY!!!!
I was in Tyler's class from K to graduation and I find myself wanting to get out my old pom-poms! I am asking all of you to COMMENT to Tyler. He reads this blog everyday and he needs some cheer. If you are able, take a trip to Lubbock and wear your Mogul gear. If you can't, do something... Come on and tell him to keep it up. Let's cheer him on! Put it on and pray for this Mighty Mogul who needs a big boost! Send Tyler, Tonya, and everyone the courage and encouragement they need. MOST OF ALL PRAY!!!! The second month at the hospital began TODAY...
They see a LONG road ahead...
Go Tyler! NOW, LET'S HEAR IT!

Added: Check this out too!
Dakota has surgery TODAY.

Tyler is in Rehab
Cindy watched them change his bandages and she said it looked bad to her but the nurses said it looked really good. Tonya and Cindy will probably do this once he gets home.
She handed the phone to someone else and I heard a voice. At first I thought it was Todd because he sounded so strong and happy. It was Tyler's voice. He sounded really good and I must admit after the roller-coaster month we have all witnessed, it made me a little misty-eyed to hear his voice. Thank you JESUS.... You ARE mighty to save....
Trey's face has been hurting him some. Please pray for Trey's recovery. He still has a long road ahead as well.

Hard Day in Step Down
Change of Plans
Lord, we come to you now asking that you protect Tyler from any foreign influence. Put a hedge around him and keep him strong. Give Tyler extra strength for the physical therapy. You tell us in the Word that YOU ARE OUR STRENGTH WHEN WE ARE WEAK so we believe that for Tyler today.

Sunday Evening
They did disinfect the laptop computer and he got to read the website for a couple of hours. I know he will enjoy reading all of the sweet comments and know how many people are praying for him. Keep up the prayers and maybe Tyler will be home by this time next week.
Sunday Afternoon
Tyler still has to go to the tank room today so we can pray for strength to endure.
When Jesus was talking to Simon Peter in Luke 22:31-32 he said, "Simon, Simon, satan has asked to sift you as wheat, (32) but I have prayed for you, Simon that your faith may not fail, And when you have turned back, strengthen your brothers." Tyler, my prayer for you today is..."Jesus pray for Tyler as you prayed for Simon Peter...as Tyler goes through this trial and sifting as wheat that he would be strengthened and when he is strengthened Tyler will strengthen his brothers. God do not let Tyler's faith fail but cause his faith to increase that he might be a testimony to the Glory of God. Amen"
TREY: Trey is doing good but still having some discomfort and pain in his face. He is still pretty weak and can't eat anything much. Food has to be soft so if you take food to Trey and Ronda remember that. Ronda said she thought he had tried to eat things that hurt his mouth. So, don't forget to pray for Trey as you continue to pray for Tyler.
Saturday, June 14, 2008
Saturday afternoon
PRAYER REQUEST: Tyler has no appetite. His stomach has shrunk and he can only eat a few bites before he is full. They told him that if he didn't start eating they would have to put the feeding tube back in which would mean he would not move to step down. All of the surgeries, pain medication, antibiotics, etc. just takes it toll on appetite. He did ask for some Kentucky Fried Chicken so they are bringing that for the next visit. He has to be eating, walking and going to the bath room before they can move him to step down on Monday. Hopefully the walking will help his appetite.
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY that he can eat a lot of fried chicken and gravy.
Friday, June 13, 2008
They have been told that Tyler's 'airplane arm' cast can come off and his skin grafts are now 90% effective. This is up from an earlier 60% report. So, we have more good news!
Tyler asked Cindy, 'How are my girls?' 'They are great, they just need their Daddy to come home.'
Father, we pray for Your sovereign hand to give Tyler, Tonya and the family strength and rest, today. In weakness, be their strength and their song. Release Your love and mercy to them now. May they look to You and You alone for supply. In The Strong Name of Christ Jesus, AMEN.

Thursday evening
Cindy and Larry surprised us all by being at church last night. They had to come home after 23 days to do a little bill paying and check on things here. Trey and Ronda had to come to the Dr. in Lubbock so they left them to visit Tyler and Tonya. They gave us a good report on the past 3 weeks and how blessed they have been by all the visits, calls, and love they have received.
I talked with Tonya tonight to get a new update on Tyler. She said he had a pretty good day. He is eating pretty good. He is very uncomfortable with the splint/brace on his arm where they did the skin graft. The Drs. said they would take the bandages off the grafts tomorrow and if it is healing they will leave the splint/brace off. Cindy said it covered his arm and chest.
The plan is to start serious rehab and exercise on Saturday. They told him his vacation was about to come to an end. 5 surgeries do not seem like a vacation to me but it sounds like they are about to start Tyler on some real work. Tonya said they would see how tough he is and if he worked really hard they would move him either to the step down unit (this is where family can come and go at any time) or actually to the rehab unit. He will have to walk every step he takes. If all goes well the goal is to get him home by the following weekend.
They are asking that we continue to pray there will be NO INFECTION! PRAY FOR STRENGTH BECAUSE THIS IS GOING TO BE REALLY TOUGH BUT WE KNOW TYLER CAN DO IT.
I also talked to TREY: He is feeling a little better each day and sleeping better each night. He still has a little numbness in his face which is a miracle considering where he has come from. We are asking you all to just thank God for the many miracles He has done and for the way God is using this for HIS GLORY!
If you have a problem praising Him just listen to the music on this site and sing along with it….from your heart. OUR GOD IS AN AMAZING GOD.
If you would like to see a cute picture of the Thompson girls at Vacation Bible School go here

After surgery...
TYLER: When Tonya went in this morning at 9 am she said that Tyler was pale and sedated. His sodium was out of whack so they gave him 3 units of blood. They also restricted his fluid intake. Then when Tonya went in at 1pm she said the color was back in his face and that he looked stronger. They have his pain under control which is wonderful. They will check his skin grafts Friday and if all goes well, they could move him to the step-down unit where he could start physical therapy. Tonya sounded upbeat and it was really good to hear from her and Ronda today.

The Third Skin Graft is OVER!
During the surgery they did skin grafts on two areas, his chest and the top of his shoulder. They had to cover a large part of his chest with skin harvested from the back of his thigh and the side of his calf. They also grafted the top of his shoulder and put him in an airplane split that keeps his shoulder immobile while it heals for a few days. They also opened his leg and clean it a bit and to also take a culture for infection.
They took him to the tank room after surgery and he is resting under heavy sedation. He has his tubes out and will only have to have oxygen through his nose.
Pain and threat of infection are at the forefront of their minds. Please pray that all goes smoothly and that Tyler stays strong. Most of us can't imagine the pain that Tyler (and Trey) has gone through but at least this is the last foreseeable obstacle to his coming home.
Continue to lift the family up and pray that this is all soon a distant memory for the Thompson family...
TYLER TUESDAY Update
They worked on his leg, a skin graft on his shoulder and parts of his arm.
All looks good.
We'll update this post again as soon as they talked to the doctors.

DAKOTA>>>Front and Center! PLEASE READ!
"After reading the prayer request for Tyler's leg, I just had to cry, AGAIN. Then I read the latest post, and chills just filled me inside and out. Reading on, I read of faith, and really knowing that's where I need to grow as a Christian. Dakota's blood count that he needs to be 10 before the stem cell therapy can begin was at 2, and not budging. I just knew in my heart it wasn't going to move, that something else was going to have to happen. Sunday it was a 6 and today it was an 8. Only 2 points to go, but I was the one that was completely shocked...now I feel that I've let him down. But, I'm working at it!! I'm praying!! I'm learning!! And I'm fasting for Tyler. It's never too late for any of us to learn or become more faithful. What a precious lesson to learn at this time in my life. Praise God!!!!!! Laura Franklin Powell"
Let's FAST for DAKOTA TOO!!! Laura, we are standing in the gap for you!! God bless you, precious Grandmother! We are all with you on this one!!!!
I just talked with Tonya and Tyler's leg is fine. His leg was swelling a bit so they did a doppler to rule out a blood clot and it came back clear.
Time to Press in...UPDATED
Tyler needs this surgery tomorrow so he can hurry up and be "Daddy" at home with his kids...he needs to be allowed to jump this hurdle and move forward. Please pray they don't delay the surgery...
Please let the infection be conquered in Jesus name!
THIS IS ANOTHER CALL TO FAST... for the surgery tomorrow... Word is his leg is OK. Please fast if you feel led...
Please join us in fasting until the surgery is done and Tyler is alright.
BY THE WAY...( in case you missed this miracle)
Trey can smell and taste, thank you very much! You see, with God all things are possible.
Ronda said his sense of smell worked "just fine"when he was holding a certain baby nephew with a stinky diaper! The doctor was amazed... Trey has another appointment this week.
We are just waiting and watching for God's next move...another miracle for Tyler.
And Trey,I saw a poster for the Terminator movie and he had a metal head... made me think of you... hahaha...
FUNNY STORY>>>>
Trey, Ronda, and a "certain unnamed ex-Munday student"(not me) were watching Jay Leno the other night. He was doing his usual "Jay Walking"routine where they stop people on the street and ask questions that everyone is supposed to know. The question was, "Who was Lewis and Clark?" The girl on the street was stumped and paused for a while. Trey remarked, " Anybody who doesn't know that isn't an American!" The "certain unnamed ex-Munday student" thought for a moment then shouted, "I know! I know! It was SUPERMAN!"
(uh...you get it? Lois and Clark...) sigh- whew
Somebody was filing her nails during Mrs. McGuire's history class...
Ronda said that they laughed so hard that Trey's face hurt so bad she thought she was going to have to take him back to Lubbock... Thank God for laughter anyways!

Sunday Evening
The day started off really rough for Tyler but being the tough guy that he is he was able to go to the tank room without the IV Drugs. His nurse said, "He is a tough one"
and he was really proud of Tyler. I think he had some pain killer by mouth but nothing else. The nurse was very proud of him.
The nurses let the kids go back in (actually they go into the hall...not his room) to see him and spend about 15 minutes. It was another good visit. They also took the computer back in and also the book that Donald Edrington made after the first few days so Tyler could read all about the wreck, etc. and comments from the beginning. Cindy said it was a very emotional day. Keith came to see Tyler and as Tyler is realizing what Keith did for him he is just overwhelmed.
Bill Hart of the Abilene Reporter News had a note about the heroics of Keith and the era of the Thompson boys that you might want to check out. The title of the article is 'Two Men Are Alive Thanks To This Boy'. It was a nice compliment to our young hero Keith Cypert. Click here for the article.
Cindy says they have seen the answers to all of the prayers during the past 5 days. He is definitely making progress. His last (we are praying) skin graft is scheduled for Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. so please don't stop praying.
TREY: Trey and Ronda were at church this morning. He is doing very good but tires easily. He of course overdid it at the rodeo so he was tired today. Ronda told me that the rash from the allergic reaction was all gone which is a miracle because the drs. had said it would last from weeks to months. They canceled the appointment with the dermatologist.
Ronda did ask that we pray for Trey's mouth. His teeth are tightening up, however he is ready for steak! He is still on soft and semi soft foods.
Please join me in praying the boys will take it easy and allow their bodies to heal. They have been through a lot and I pray that they don't overdo. I know they are young and that is in their favor but as we all know they have been through a lot and need to heed the Drs. orders.

A Kodak Moment
He was surprised with a special visit from his kids, Kendall, Madison, Bryce, and Trevor. All those there said that was a special day (very emotional for everyone involved). This is the first time that he has had a chance to be with his kids since the wreck...
We were told that Tyler had lots of friends around him today as well. It sounds like today was the kind of day that will be a sweet memory for all.
This is a great milestone and Tyler, we believe that you will be home very soon.
We are all rooting for you!
Thanks Kathy for the pics...

Friday Night
They were able to take the laptop computer into Tyler's room in ICU. Of course he really doesn't realize what all happened and how long it has been going on. Tonya read several of the stories about the accident, some of the comments and Bill Myers article on "First Responders". Tyler was very touched and Cindy said they all cried a few tears while going over the details and explaining what all has happened. Tyler was amazed (as we all are) at how many hits this blog has had and how fast it has grown. They were only able to share a few of the comments so maybe they can continue reading to him tomorrow.
UPDATE ON TREY: Ronda took Trey to the Haskell Rodeo tonight. Don't know how long they stayed but Cindy said he was feeling a little stronger each day and he told her he had taken a long nap today so our prayers are being answered for his sleep. Thank God! They had put a phone in Tyler's room and he can call out so he called Trey. Cindy said Tyler had asked a lot of questions about Trey.
Friday update
They have removed all of the tubes except the IV. He is very weak and they want him to have 6000 calories daily. Guess they will do that through the IV because I don't think he could eat that much so soon. Cindy said she thought he had lost at least 25 lbs.
They did let Tonya stay with him longer to help him eat his breakfast. He has both hands bandaged...
Thanks again for all the prayers. God is good. We are hearing tremendous reports even from the hospital staff and also the website. We will never know how far and wide God has used the situation. GOD IS IN ALL THE DETAILS.

Wednesday night update
Tonya's mother Beverly came last night and brought Trevor so they have all enjoyed having him there today to love on.
TREY: Trey saw the opthomologist today and they took some stitches from under his eye lid. He said that felt better. The eye lid on that right eye is not closing completely. He was tired today so they will spend the night in Lubbock. He will go back to see the eye dr. in a month.
DAKOTA: The blood clot was in the port in his chest not in his lung. Maybe they will give us an update on him soon. I believe with all of the prayers we should have a good report on him soon.
afternoon update

Continue to pray there will be NO INFECTION.
PRAISE REPORT
I have been telling everyone that God sent us many angels with street clothes on and we feel His presence in your loving arms, calls, cards, all the tender acts of kindness you have bestowed on our family. We want to thank everyone at home for tending to all our daily details especially our children's "wants" and needs! We are so humbled and touched by our dear family and friends. We feel so blessed to have you in our lives.
Tyler update: We also want to jump up and down over Tyler's progress. We last saw him on Friday and could not believe how much better he looked today. His ear is almost completely healed and his mind is very intact as he was talking "horse talk" literally with Trey. We enjoyed our conversation with him, it was good to see and hear "Ty-Ty"! He too is healing and getting better everyday. Please join us in praying and believing that he will be home for Father's Day, as we know that "with God ALL things are possible!" He has proved that over and over the past two weeks. Tyler's temp has stayed at 99 or below, another miracle! Continue to pray against infection and a speedy recovery. He barely failed the swallow test today, his nurse feels confident that he will pass it tomorrow, so we all agree and believe he will pass with flying colors and finally get the feeding tube out and get some REAL nourishment!
God Bless all of you and your families, you are blessed to be a blessing. THANK YOU!! WE LOVE YOU!
Please continue to pray for peace and patience and pray against any infection.
Trey is back in Lubbock for Drs. appointments. Please do not stop praying for Trey. He has problems sleeping because he can't find a comfortable spot.
The family has a lap top computer in the waiting room and are very blessed to read your comments so please keep them coming. If you want to say anything feel free to click on the comments and you can write your comment. Click on "anonymous" and then "publish". They especially ask that you add your name in the comment section so they know who is commenting. You have blessed them so much with your prayers and comments.
If you are coming to the hospital the visiting hours are 9-10 A.M., 1-2 P.M., 5-6 P.M., 9-10 P.M. Some of the family will be here during those hours so if you are coming please let them know so you don't miss them if they leave for a little while.

Good News
Todd says, "We are seeing miracles daily and prayers being answered. Thank you one and all for praying and standing with us during this hard time. Words cannot express what everyone who calls, comes to hospital and helps our family at home means to our family. May the Lord bless each of you as you have blessed us."

Ultimate Sacrifice
Back around Easter my blog entry was about Jesus making the ultimate sacrifice for us. I asked the question of myself and others, Would I be willing to lay my life on the line for others for selfless reasons. I bring this back up for one reason, Keith Cypert.
If any of you have been following the struggle of Trey and Tyler Thompson you may have heard about Keith. Keith is a junior @ Munday High School and has worked for the Thompsons for some time. He was in the truck with the Thompsons when their horrible accident occurred. I have tried to play this accident in my mind. It had to be a horrible scene. Then my mind turns to Keith. Remember, he is only a junior in high school and he has the presence of mind to pull Trey and Tyler from this fiery wreckage. Was it just instinct or was there another force involved?
I haven't had the pleasure of knowing Keith but for some reason I feel he made that ultimate sacrifice and risked his own life and limb out of love. Out of his love for Trey and Tyler and out of his love for the Lord. I give Trey and Tyler some of this credit because these two men have taken the time to show a young man like Keith their unwavering love for the Lord. They have been examples to him that more young men need to have, not to be afraid in today's world to let your faith shine through and not to be ashamed of it.
No matter what drove Keith that day, I know the whole Thompson family is grateful to him and I have a feeling the Lord is grateful to him for letting him use him as a tool of love to save Trey and Tyler. I feel that He has great plans for these 3 individuals and I can't wait to see what they are.
Please continue prayer for all three of these guys but say an extra for Tyler. He has such a long road ahead of him and so many obstacles continue to block his road to recovery.
"Give generously to him and do so without a grudging heart; then because of this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in everything you put your hand to." Deuteronomy 15:10
Second Skin Graft Surgery
Cindy's cousin just sent pizza for the family and they have gone to eat. Cindy says again to thank everyone for their prayers, visits and concern.
God is in control of this entire situation and He will receive Glory. Don't forget to continue praying for Trey. He is home and still needs the healing touch of God.

Deserving of a Public Post
I don't know if anyone missed this comment, but just in case I wanted to put it front and center...
Thompson Family
As I sit here and read the comments people have left and the beautiful music that is on it I cry each time I read all of these. Keith loves this family sometimes I think more then his own. He worship every step Tyler and Trey have taken. He has told me many nights how he would have lost his own life for them. I tell him that God gave him the strength to get them out alive. He has cried many tears saying what if mom I had broke my legs or been unconcsious. I tell him God was with all of them that day.I have to tell about the time when keith was little and someone asked him what his name was he told them Keith Thompson we still laugh about that. Tyler and Trey are Keith's hero they took him and showed him a great life as he is growing up. He had to write a paper in 3rd grade and one of the questions was who his hero was well guess what he put Trey Thompson. He lives on every word they say and he has learned to become a good person through them. He always comes home and talks about how good Cindy Kelly Ronda And Tonya cook. He told me the other day well we got 50 percent home now we need Tyler to come home for the 100 percent. He says I know Tyler will be home soon. He has had a lot of sleepless nights but he is dealing with it in his own way. He reads this sight every night before he goes to bed. The Thompson family just know our arms are wrapped around you at all times. Thank you everyone for the prayers keep them up they do help a lot.
We love all of you.

Praise Report
3:30 P.M. Cindy just called to say Tyler was having a better day. Tonya said it was his best day. He ask them how long he was going to have to be there. Tonya told him they said about 30 days at least and he shook his head NO. She explained that he had been there for 2 weeks already.
Cindy said she thought this is the first time that he realizes where he is and what is going on. Cindy and Larry went to church after they saw him this morning. They just felt like they needed to be in church. When they went in this afternoon his temp was back up a little. The nurses told them they were going to try and get him into the tank before so late today.
Cindy ask that we pray for patience and against depression because Tyler is not going to want to be there.
They are going to try and do both the front and back skin grafts tomorrow so we need to really pray that they will be able to do all of that. Tomorrow is another big hurdle.
Those of you who will please fast tomorrow and Praise God for what He has already done and what He is going to do.
